Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What are your 2015 prices?
A: Family, child, maternity, and engagement/couple photos are $175, plus mileage if I am traveling further than 35km. For repeat customers, session cost is $150 (mileage still applies, though). Graduation and newborn lifestyle sessions are $200 plus mileage.
Q: Do you do weddings?
A: I am currently NOT doing weddings due to some health problems. I am happy to suggest some of my favourite Maritime wedding photographers if you are interested!
Q: Will you do that cute newborn pose?
A: I only do newborn lifestyle sessions, which include me coming to your home and taking photos of baby in their natural habitat. Simple, clean photos. I am absolutely terrible at posing newborns so it's not part of what I offer. I am happy to suggest local photographers who are amazing at this, though!
Q: How many photos will I get?
A: A typical session will land you at least forty edited images on a disc. Oftentimes it is upwards of 60-80 photos, depending on the subject and session style; for example, lifestyle sessions often result in more photos.
Q: Why can't I have all of the photos?
A: Do you really want twelve photos of the same pose? ;) I generally take several hundred photos, and I always choose the best one or two from each pose. I don't give all photos because some of them simply don't turn out!
Q: What can I do with the photos? Do I need to order prints through you?
A: Nope - as far as I am concerned, photos of yourself should be yours to print however and wherever you like. You can share the images on the Internet, print them, enlarge them, and so on. If you are interested in professional printing, I can order prints for you and I will charge you only what it costs for me to send away for them.
Q: Can I edit the photos you give me?
A: Please don't! But if you want one in black-and-white or need something changed, please let me know and I'll happily do it for you, no extra charge. I want my photos to represent the work that I do, and editing them gives a false impression of my work.
Q: What should I wear?
A: I know a lot of people stress about what to wear, but it's hard to mess up. I tell people to wear complementary colours, but not to match. Pick a colour palette and roll with it. Try to wear similar styles in that you're all about the same degree of dressiness; don't put Junior in soccer shorts if your daughter is in a pretty dress. Try not to mix a bunch of patterns, and stay away from writing on kids' clothes. Leave the cell phone off the belt. That sort of thing. Feel free to send me ideas and get my opinion!
Q: What do you use for props? Can you do this <insert Pinterest idea>?
A: As a rule, I do not provide props. It is not my style; I prefer to take photos of you interacting with your family and your environment. If you are looking for someone to do a cake smash session or a newborn posed on a saddle, I can absolutely give you suggestions of photographers who do this and excel at it. However, you can feel free to run ideas by me and I'll see what I can do. Hey, I like Pinterest, too, and there are some great ideas on there! If you have special items you'd like to use, that is perfectly fine and we'll come up with a way to incorporate them into our session.
Q: Will you share my photos?
A: I do usually like to share photos on my Facebook page or, occasionally, on this blog. Please inform me if you do not want me sharing photos BEFORE the session is over.
Q. When do I pay you?
A: Please pay me at some point during the session time. Cheque, cash, and Paypal accepted.
